O-R-A-N-G-E Story time

BOOKS:

The Carrot Seed, by Ruth Krauss

Pumpkin Trouble, by Jan Thomas

I honestly think Jan Thomas is one of my favorite authors of books for young children.  There are bright vibrant pictures and very simple text with a lot of teachable story elements.

SONG:

WE LOVE ORANGE
Tune:  “Three Blind Mice”
We love orange, we love orange.
Yes we do, yes we do—
Crunchy carrots so good to eat,
Juicy oranges, oh so sweet,
Pumpkins ready for trick-or-treat.
Yes, we love orange.

ACTIVITY:

We had a snack of clementine oranges and baby carrots.   We played a simple game of "Hot Potato" with an orange, so it was "Hot Orange".   We practiced passing the orange around a circle first of all, which was a skill that was not that easy for young children.  Instead of the person holding the orange when the music was over being "out", we just shook our hands in the air and went "woo hoo...yay"!
