Alphabet is "over" so let's start on COLORS

We finished with our Alphabet books last week .. "yea!"

So, it is time to get back to thinking about new things to do with my storytimes.  I won't lie, it was nice to be planned so far ahead of time (i.e., knowing that there is a certain obvious order to the ABCs and we were following that order).  Unfortunately, as a rule, I am normally not that prepared....but I keep trying!

Colors and Numbers (as far as we can get before storytimes end for the season, before summer reading program) are next.

We did not have a craft today (primarily due to time available to plan a craft on my part this past week or so), but we did have a snack of colorful Great Value (Wal-Mart) fruit snacks - very colorful; and a flannel storyboard of "10 in the Bed" (picture below), instructions found at:  http://www.makinglearningfun.com/themepages/TenintheBedFeltBoard.htm.

The books we read today were:

The Crayon Box that Talked, by Shane DeRolf

and

Colors for Zena, by Monica Wellington

Like I said, we did not do a craft, but the book Colors for Zena would lend itself very well to doing painting and mixing colors with the kids.  Unfortunately, because we are going through a library renovation right now, and we don't necessarily have a good area for messiness, we can't do it :(
