I am not entirely sure how long it has been going on, but once a year a committee selects a preschool-age-appropriate book title to be used for a statewide event called Kansas Reads to Preschoolers (click here to go to website for information and examples). Last year the book was Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archumbault. This year's title was Dog's Colorful Day, by Emma Dodd. The website referenced above had a lot of good activities to go with the book.
