There are some rhymes and fingerplays here, both hedgehogs and porcupines.  I think anything hedgehog could be adapted for porcupine. :)

This site has some activity ideas as well as a wide variety of coloring pages and images.  Some are very simple images for toddlers, and others are more detailed for older preschoolers.

Real Porcupine Visits:

Contact a local zoo or nature center to see if they have any educational species that you can bring to your library or school.  Currently, as of 8/16/2024, there isn't a known captive porcupine in the state of Kansas at least at Milford Nature Center, in the Kansas Dept. of Wildlife & Parks or any of the larger zoos across the state.  Smaller zoos may have one, but you would have to call and check yours in your vicinity.

 I've tried to collect storytime resources digitally as much as I can.  I got away from blogging (obviously) because I really didn't have much interest in making my blog as elaborate as I see so many folks do. I just don't have the amount of time available to put into something like that. Oh, I suppose I DO, but I have other things I'd RATHER do. :)  

I discovered this year that it was very helpful, however, to go back and reaccess resources for the alphabet storytimes that I had done several years ago. There was a lot of updating of resources, but it was still very helpful to me. 

I just went through and updated other blog posts, too, deleting sections that had disappeared, primarily pictures. So if something doesn't make sense, that's why. 

I want to try to do some upkeep or maintenance more, and add more helpful storytime information for future use. We'll see! :)
